UNTAG - Namibia
Am 23. März 1989 wurden 50 österreichische Polizisten und Gendarmen nach Namibia entsandt und dem UN Polizeikontigent (UNTAG - United Nations Transition Assistence Group) dienstzugeteilt.
Aufgabe der UN Mission war die Unterstützung bei der Sicherstellung und Durchführung von freien und fairen Wahlen in Namibia im Rahmen des Unabhängigkeits- prozesses.
Am 21. März 1990 erlangte Namibia seine Unabhängigkeit.
Am 4. April beendete das österreichische UN Polizeikontingent seinen Dienst und kehrte wieder nach Österreich zurück. Mit Rotation versahen insgesamt 80 österreichische Beamte ihren Dienst im Rahmen der UNTAG
On 23 March 1989, 50 Austrian Police and Gendarmes were sent to Namibia and assigned to the UN Police Contingent (UNTAG - United Nations Transition
Assistance Group).
The task of the UN Mission was to support the securing and holding of free and fair elections in Namibia within the framework of the independence
process.
Namibia gained its independence on 21 March 1990.
On April 4, the Austrian UN Police Contingent ended its service and returned to Austria. A total of 80 Austrian Police and Gendarmes rotated within the framework of UNTAG
In Zusammenarbeit mit der Österreichischen Namibia-Gesellschaft (ÖNG) findet / fand im Rahmen des 30-jährigen Jubiläums der Unabhängig von Namibia, am 8. Oktober 2020 eine Ausstellung im International Institute for Peace (IIP) statt.
Aus diesem Grunde werden meine Fotos, welche ich 1989 und 1990 in Namibia aufgenommen habe, interessierten Besuchern meiner Webseite zur Ansicht veröffentlicht.
Es handelt sich dabei um analoge Fotos welche schon in die "Jahre gekommen" sind und - so gut wie möglich - digital aufbereitet worden sind.
In cooperation with the Austrian Namibia Society (ÖNG), an exhibition will take (took) place at the International Institute for Peace (IIP) on
October 8, 2020, as part of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Namibia.
For this reason my photos, which I took in Namibia in 1989 and 1990, will be published for viewing by interested visitors of my
website.
They are analog photos which are already "outdated" and - as good as possible - have been digitally processed.
